I've had the incredible honor to speak at several events and on panels to discuss my experience as a tech professional and a woman in a male dominated industry. My subject matter expertise based on my experience currently covers the following topics: Diversity in Tech, Women of Color in Tech, Women in Engineering, Career Changers, Coding Bootcamps and Getting Hired As A Non Traditional Engineer. I also offer freelance articles for other blogs and magazines. Take a look at my past/upcoming speaking engagements below. For business inquiries and bookings, please email me at email@example.com.
She Is - A Conversation w/ Karen Civil
I joined 4 women on a panel discussing being the boss in a male dominated industry. I focused largely on being willing to take a risk after you’ve already “made it” in another industry, and trusting in what you know and your ability to learn the rest, even in the midst of industry experts. After our panel, Karen Civil gave a keynote address about being a woman in the entertainment industry, believing in yourself and knowing your value as you navigate through your career. The event was held at LA Create Space, the first co-working space in Inglewood, CA. More photos and links will be shared when available.
Life In Tech: Career Panel for the Next Generation of Female Leaders
Earlier this year I joined a few other women @Snap to speak to a group of high school students from GALA, the first all-girls STEM school within LAUSD. The panel focused on our careers and focused on teaching the students about various career opportunities within the tech industry . We also unpacked the various avenues of getting into tech and spent lots of time on Q&A for the girls about our careers and the company. The event was help at Snap.
Black Girls Code Parent-Daughter Workshop | STEM Career Panel
Last year was one of my favorite speaking engagements because I was able to speak to an audience of parents of young black girls interested in tech. This opportunity was unique because the questions were largely from parents trying to understand how to choose the right opportunities, how to vet the various resources available, and how to cultivate the gifts in their daughters. We also got to speak to girls as young as 8 who demonstrated a passion for the industry. This event was held at NationalBuilder.
