How To Recruit and Promote Women in Tech

General Assembly is partnering with Orange Grove Consulting and Pasedena Women in Tech to host a panel to talk about diversifying the tech industry by recruiting women. But it doesn't stop there, we'll be discussing retention strategies as well.

I'll be speaking on the panel along with Timirah James, a Developer Evangelist at Verizon Digital Media Services, and Joanne Cabanting, the Director of Operations at Education Dynamics.

Event is Free. Register online: https://generalassemb.ly/education/how-to-recruit-retain-and-promote-women-in-tech/los-angeles/30312

If you're new to programming or hack-a-thons, this may be a great introduction!

A fun filled day of demos and inspiring energy! Excited participant teams will showcase their products to the attending public and mentor-judges. They are also encouraged to walk around and watch other teams demo—the sense of grandeur from experiencing a room filled with a few hundred people gathered around a common, socially beneficial cause is palpable and inspiring. Groups of wandering mentors and stakeholders will select the handful of top teams from the Hack4Equality Demo Day to demo for our panel of distinguished finals judges who will decide their fates that evening!

You can volunteer to help in one of the following ways:

Tech Instructors (TI) will lead the students during the hands-on sessions. Tech Assistants (TA) will help tech instructors, answer student questions, and help students to understand concepts. Classroom Assistants (CA) will help manage a specific class. CAs are responsible for escorting the children to their classrooms, lunch, and the restrooms. Non Tech Volunteers play an important role in making our workshops a success. Please bring your smart phone or tablet (and charger) to workshop to post to Twitter.
